Courtyard of Scuola del Cuoio, FlorenceThe Florence Leather School, at the Santa Croce church
Italy exceeded all of my expectations. We enjoyed nearly 3 weeks in Rome, Florence, and Palermo and while it's really hot in July it was also glorious.
Rome showed me more than 2,000 years of power, wealth, and thinking that influences us even today. Florence overwhelmed me with the culture and art of the Renaissance. And Palermo, that cross-road of Moorish, Norman, and Sicilian cultures surprised me with its history and sheer beauty of the coastline. The people we met were amazing and kind.
And everywhere, in the cities and the countryside, opportunities for photography. My camera stayed in my hand almost the entire trip, my wife was super patient with my constant stopping and shooting! I've dropped some of them in the gallery Italy 2022, hope you enjoy them!

A Pair
When I was in high school I had an old Pentax Spotmatic II. I'd take my photos and then use the school's darkroom to develop them. It was fun and intricate and I learned a lot from having to do every step myself.
Then for a long time, nothing. My father loved photography and he left me a little collection of vintage camera; a Leica, a Rolleiflex, and an old Hasselblad. He also left me a Fuji XPro-2.
That XPro-2 brought me back to photography. I love the rangefinder type of camera, and the film simulations that the XPro-2 can produce captivated me.
I've added a few more things to my bag, and now I use,
I've got a little collection of lenses,
And some vintage glass thats a ton of fun to play with,
The XE-4 with the 27mm lens has become my everyday carry, and I use it 80% of the time. Because so much of my photos are 'street' I need something light and fast, to capture a moment. When I'm feeling deliberate I bring out the XPro-2. Regardless, I really enjoy the Fuji experience and they really suit the way I personally like to take photos.
